Smog device?

My new chain for my Brozz should get here today, and I figure I may tinker with the bike a little. I am wondering if I should get rid of whatever that smog stuff is up under the tank, or should I keep it. Will I gain anything, in terms of efficiency, or performance ? I do remember it interfering just a little on the valve adjustment process, but no more often than that is required, it is no big deal. What ,if any pros, or cons would be the result of tossing the smog device?

This is probably the best concise explanation for it:

I removed mine and then fabricated a block off plate and painted black

I put a brozz head on mine and asked about blocking that hole, and someone said they tapped the hole and put a bolt in. That's what I did, however, I had the head off and apart so there wasn't any chance of metal shavings falling in.
