Fabricated skid plate for my Hawk

I started fabricating a skid plate for my Hawk yesterday using 1/16 steel. I mocked up the plate on beer box cardboard to get the angle and position correct, then traced the mock up onto the plate steel. I finished it up today and mounted it. It's not perfection, but I think it turned out pretty good.

I told her to stay right in the mud hole. She went left. Now her nickname is "Swamp Thing."

Every hill is climbable, if you're brave enough.

Let's go to the jewelry store, she said. It'll be fun, she said.

Good effort, Looks great.

please don't interpret this as pissing in someones cornflakes. I respect the effort and outcome.

But I think there is some room for improvement. This might not really be an issue for your riding style.

Because of the ubolts at the bottom the exposed threads and nuts turn the skid plate into a hang pan.

You can resolve this by extending the skid plate further back and mounting the plate on the next frame cross section...which will also protect the rest of the frame.

I did a dodgy MSpaint to convey the concept.

Schway.

All I did for my Enforcer was torch and bend up a thick poly cutting board. Yours looks way better. (Mine slides over rocks and logs real nice, though.)

No piss in my cornflakes. I like suggested ideas. The thing is, I did originally have it farther back and more coverage on the sides. I'm pretty OCD, so it turned into cut, trim, measure, measure again...etc. lol. So it ended up losing a bit of material.

Thanks! It was my first time fabbing a skid plate.

Looks good! It took me a couple of tries until I got mine like I wanted it. If you ever install an oil cooler you will want to make it a little wider to help protect the oil cooler lines. My first skid plate worked but needed lots and lots of refinement.

Thanks Jerry. Yeah, I'm gonna keep working on the design. Seems you've got it down to a science now. Lol. How much for one?

I actually have an oil cooler on order, just waiting in it to get here.

Man, I gotta get me one of the Ghosts. Those are sweet!

As i right now i don't really have the time to fabricate any. CSC makes a nice aluminum skid plate for the TT250 that will fit the Hawk.
Yeah, I love the Ghost though she hasn't gotten much attention lately now that I have the Vulcan S. I'll take the Ghost to ride around town.

Thanks. It's an amazon 6.5" LED light that came with all the mounting hardware. I can't remember the brand, but I think I paid about $60 for it. On each side of it I added round LED lights that I wired to my running lights. I can see great at night now, even better than the LED light I had in the original headlight mount.
