A little lean?

Checked my plug while I had the tank off for a petcock change.
(yes, you have to pull the tank to remove the spark plug on an S40/Savage)
-The plug is darker than the photo shows, but I still think I'm running lean.

For a carby, yeah perhaps a little lean. For EFI, probably OK. How does it run?

I can't see the pic of the plug for some reason but if it back fires on decel alot then surely you could bump the jet up in size a bit, and maybe even the pilot or go another turn out on the mixture screw. I just got done rebuilding the carbs and fixing the backfiring issue on my brother shadow after he thought it was a good idea to pull the baffles out of his long shots and toss em SMH. I went up on the main jets and went another turn out on the Idle air mixture screw. Back firing is gone but its still annoying as Hell and gives me a headache LOL

These motors are prone to backfiring. I tried to install a bigger pilot but stripped the head off of it.
