My sister tried to get him registered as a bidder but they ran into problems with it. They even called the auction service and they couldn't figure out why he couldn't register.

Anyway, he called me to look at the pictures for him and give him my opinion. First alarm bell was 'Kit Car'. Second was '80s Kit Car w/Pinto drive train'. Third was that it has sat outside for a decade. I told him to consider just the cost. Say he got it for a grand. It's going to run another several hundred in fuel just to get out to Custer to see it up close, plus more to get it home. Then consider driving through N. Minnesnowta and South Dakota in late October, early November. Weather could be dicey.

He said I was no fun but it was probably for the best. I told him to look closer to home and asked why that particular car. Seems he picked up a rebuilt Ford V8-60 and is looking for something to put it in. I mentioned that I've seen several Ford 9N tractors with that mod. I may have created a monster.
Good call. Take it from someone who did a kit car project with his dad. Constant nightmare, parts searching, fabbing to fit, and frustration. Then once it's done, it's continuous band-aiding to keep it together. Other than that, we had a great time building it together!

I'll continue this kit car story for entertainment purposes.

My dad was kind of an eccentric when it came to some things, and he was quite the car buff. Also, he was a 100% disabled vet in a wheel chair. We knew we had this VW kit car coming in (Bradley GT) and our house was split level and this would create accessibility issues for him getting to the garage and back daily/hourly. The garage was about 10 steps down from the rest of the house. So....he sent my mom and aunt on a pack mule trip down the Grand Canyon.

While she was gone, he had a carpenter tear out the back wall of our dining room and install a massive sliding door. While the wall was out, we moved the car into the dining room. Then the slider was installed after we got everything in we needed. No more accessibility issues getting to the kit car project!

You should have seen the look on my moms face when she got home from her trip......

My mom is 96 and will be 97 in December. She's volunteered to move into an assistant living faculty since my dad had passed away. Awesome place. She's probably the oldest one there but probably the most active. She told my Younger sister that she will live to be 110. lol Here's a picture from my visit with here last week. Funny thing she keeps telling them OLD people don't do anything.

Well, he bought a second ATV this week. A Polaris 400, but this one is supposedly a 2 smoke. I dunno.

My dad is also mid 80s, he has never had any love for motorized vehicles like we do. Lucky fella to have a cool dad. My pops loves watching tennis...Ughhhh boring. He played until he was 67 and his knees were 100% shot. Now ping pong.
