SSR XF250 Engine swap??

so this 2013 SSR XF250 i got in a trade is just giving me tons of headaches. Engine has seen better days from sitting, but the rest of the bike is still in decent shape.



anyone know of a motor that will bolt in without too much frame modifiaction or even a direct bolt on?



since i have a title, and the bike only has 80 miles on it the rest is like new.



any suggestions?

An OEM replacement or at least an engine with the same type of stator might make things easier. Does your bike have a DC CDI? If it gets 12v when you turn on the ignition, it is DC. If no voltage, it gets AC from the stator when the engine is cranked to start.

What engine is in there? 169FM, 172FM .. ?

The XF250 doesn't use a Honda clone engine. it actually uses a clone of the Suzuki ST250/TU250X engine.

yes, it is a suzuki clone, and it uses a DC stator and CDI. i thought about going with a OEM replacement but seeing what other options i may have.


might put current engine on the bench and tear it down, see if i can find anything

2013 and only 80 miles,shold be like new. I would check compression 1st,then go from there,did you adjust the valves yet? Should not cost much to rebuild.

i have adjusted valves, tried numerous CDI and Coils. Retraced and wired everything in the electrical system. Engine has what sounds like spark knock and a awful misfire. Ive also tried 2 carbs, numerous settings to no effect. Im not sure whats going on with it. It also has tons of compression.
