3 wire parking lights / turn signals

Has anyone wired parking lights onto their bike ? i am thinking of finding a 3 wire setup for my turn signals ( parking- turn and ground ) . seem to make bike alot safer for the night riding . I don't see why they didnt do it that way at the factory

Haven't done that mod, though I have considered it. My commute is often at dusk/dark and I'm really thinking more lights would make me feel better.
That said, it's not well known how many electrical watts these bikes put out. Add in 4 more light sources and you may pull enough off that the battery won't charge up.
Maybe time for a little experimentation :twisted:

I've heard that these bikes have about 4.5 amps to play with. I think.

i was thinking of wiring the lights in with the tag light . since there is an extra hole for a bullet connector to go into . run a wire from there into another double female to add the parking lights . also with what ya'll said i wonder if it would be better to do that setup with led lights so it wont draw that much power . you can still find the led replacement 1157 bulbs at the auto parts store

Led would be a big help, Although when I used the 1157 replacements the light did not spread out as well because they are not lighting all the way around like a normal 1157 bulb. Wound up seeming dimmer unless You were looking straight on at them.

I know thinking is dangerous ( especially to me ) but i am just thinking of ways to make my bike alot safer for the night ride . i to do my after work commute in the dark so i dont trust just my headlight,taglight , and my tailight. You would think that the amber parking lights would be a DOT requirement to be sold and tagged in the US ( knock on wood that a DOT official isnt reading this and getting any ideas ). I blew my headlight out one time on the way to work and couldnt get a replacement so i rigged an H4 bulb as my replacement . I also ride aprox 70 miles a day back and forth and alot of it is highway country riding

I ride high beam ALL the time. I never turn it off. Helps a little.A running light is not a bad idea, I would try it with the leds....Any light is a good light. And most of the time people wil be in line to see it, I hate when cars are facing the side of my bike, I want to put a sidemarker on it instead of reflectors. Maybe that will be my next project.

i found some wire in LED lights at the parts store i work at ( autozone) . i am thinking about getting those and wiring them behind my gas tank cover and my number plates on the side . i think they would look cool plus added safety from the side . they are only about 2 or 3 inches long and mount with 3m tape and you can wire them direct to the light switch

HA, I work at Carquest, Neat...I was planning on using the led sidemarker lights for trailers and equipment. About two inches long and require very little voltage to run. and snap into a little chrome base.

You could run enough LED's to light your house on what one 1157 pulls.

No doubt, I switched to all led on my trucks turn signals, And they didn't even draw enough power to trip the flasher Had to go electronic.

I changed all of the incandescent bulbs in my Zongshen Sierra 200GY-2 to LEDs, except the headlight. I also needed to convert to an electronic flasher unit, but it was not expensive. I love my LED lighting, especially for the speedometer and indicator lights. Since I converted to LEDs I don't have any trouble seeing the neutral, turn signal, or high beam indicator lights, even while wearing sunglasses on a bright summer day.
