Tank Vision W/Bent Shift Linkage Cont.
Well, I finall got him to send me some pics.
I can see where the linkage could be a bit of a problem. It looks ok to me except for the linkage and a small dent in the Tank's tank Looks like ABS brakes in the front. Anybody see anything else in the pics that I should be worried about? I've got him down to $800 and it only has 600 miles on it. If I could find a linkage PDQ I'd ride the thing back home. |

I believe it bent due to weak chinese steel. I am sure a heavier duty version could be made easily.
I wouldn't recommend riding an unknown bike that far home. Allen

I'd bend it back and ride it home. That said, I'm not sure how far you'd have to go.
Like katoranger says, it's likely a steel quality issue. Perhaps you could find similar spherical rod ends at Tractor Supply or somewhere like that.

I would take the thread rod portion to an ACE hardware and try to match it up with some threaded rod. Cut to length and call it good.
I think the price is too high yet though. Just my opinion. Allen

Dealers Perspective of Tank
I thought I would see what an ex Tank dealer had to say about Tank Sports; "Sorry, given that the Tank's were of such poor quality, we stopped selling them over 3 yrs ago."
8O I think that's enough to give me cold feet. |

May, I ask why you didn't like the zong storm? Just the styling?

I was also looking pretty hard @ a Hensim HS250CR, $1,649.99 delivered. Simple and clean but yet another speedometer quirk. It has a redline on it that starts @ 45 mph. I thought it was the tach at first and it didn't have a speedometer. Plus Hensim's been around a long time. I'm watching a Buell Blast also. Not quite the style I'm looking for but a darn good bike. |

tdkrantz, pm member 'therealworld' regarding the Hensim. I would not pay $800 for a Tank--when they were actually in business, a few members went months and months with a non-running bike due to parts issues, so I couldn't imagine getting one for over a few hundred bucks that needs parts!

have you checked to see if you can get tags. just because you can buy it dont mean you can get it through the dmv. the distributor has to be listed with va dmv, and it has to be signed off by a dealer. as a matter of fact i dont know how the tank got through. and the dmv dont care, most distributors dont care what can happen is you pay by credit card they ship the bike with a mso you go to the dmv they refuse, you have a off road bike and the credit card company wont help either as you have a bike with a mso that you asked for. and yes they will all tell you they are legal in va. then ask them for their va dealer/distributor number

Believe me Phil, I hear you loud and clear.
Believe me Phil, I hear you loud and clear. Thanks for the heads up. Maybe I should get an enduro just to be sure.
You guys are going to give me a buying complex. Does it have to be a distributor/dealer for that bike manufacturer or can any distributor/dealer in Va. sign off on it. Shoot, you're a dealer aren't you? Whats your title agent rate? |

sorry but i cant, the company (tank, zong al whoever) has to be listed in va not a big deal but they have to insured bonded and pay the fees ( see remember we live in a commonwealth....fees the state gets) then they have to be listed as a franchise on my dealership (more fees for the state) i cant sell a bike i dont have listed. this goes along with the new laws we have like titles for atvs btw only dealers of motorcycles can sell atvs now legally. and i have seen this bite before .
once upon a time a guy came to a dealer looked at a bike and ordered one, instead of picking it up he contacted apollo and had them set him up. 2 miles from the first shop, he then ordered bikes and sold them until one day he sold a 150 scooter then this man dressed in blue with a badge came to see him. he had to shut down couldnt sell the bikes he had and later moved. the company went out of business and the salesman who set the other dealer lost her job since apollo (opps) closed. karma? what the short story is in state you better find a dealer not a website same in texas, pa. ohio and im sure more look at the people and bikes lost in laws in pa. stay safe find a dealer in va or stay with a name brand used bike your safer
