100,000 miles

I bought a brand new 2004 Cavalier years ago, and I think I sold it when I put on about the same amount of miles you have on your Zong... I just don't put on that many miles...
The water cooled, Honda Gold Wing engines can last for 100,000 miles, or more. However, I don't know if any air cooled engine can last that long without a rebuild. If God is willing, I intend to enjoy riding my Zong for a long time; it is a great little motorcycle! Maybe 50,000 miles before a rebuild is possible? I don't know. :?

do you ride at the low rpms most the time? the lower rpm operation, less load and consistent temperatures is what makes other engines last so long compared to these singles.

the fact you still have that good of compression is amazing Good job my lifan smoked a bit on start up after just 2,000 miles :oops:

No, I ride my Zong hard, at high rpms. I frequently ride the Zong at wide-open-throttle (WOT). However, I do change my engine oil frequently, using Shell, Rotella T, 5W/40, Synthetic motor oil. I also adjust my valve lash on a regular basis.

I rode my lifan hard all the time. No smoke after 10K miles of use.

The zong has a known factory big bore. The xt225 I believe is a direct swap.

I believe the Yamaha, XT225 engine should bolt right into the Zong's frame; however, I have not done the research to verify this. Yamaha sells a TW225 model in Japan, which also has a larger engine; however, all the TW model bikes from Yamaha employ an extra long countershaft, which will not align with the Zong's rear sprocket.

I think that the top end parts will bolt right on. Probably just need the jug and piston.

I think the XT225 engine also has a longer stroke. Therefore, you would need also need a connecting rod. Someone on the Yamaha, TW200 forum has used the XT225 parts to gain the larger engine displacement. Another TW200 owner has mounted the XT225 engine in his bike.

How did you wear yours in?

What ever you did worked because your rings seated well, if your still holding compression.

I am happy with the current, 196cc engine. It's a great engine, in a great little motorcycle.

I ran the bike pretty hard, right from the beginning; Zongshen makes a great little engine. I don't do anything unusual to maintain my engine; I just change the engine oil, and adjust the valve lash on a regular basis.
