No Respect I Tells Ya. At First.

I had Dr. appointment Monday morning, so I rode the Hi Bird to work instead of pedaling one of my other two wheelers. One of the reasons I got it.

While sitting in my office doing paperwork, the company Harley B***h strolls into my office. Our conversation went like this:

HB, "I saw your your toy motorscooter parked out front this morning".

Me, "It ain't a scooter, Audrey".

HB, "Uh-huh. So, when are you gonna get a real motorcycle?"

Me, "Looks like a real motorcycle to me."

HB, "Nope."

Me, "Hey, I can kill myself just as easily on my bike as you can on your big pig."

HB, "Well, yeah."

Me, "And I can pick it back up by myself aaannddd it didn't cost five figures, and finally, I don't give a rats' patootie if it gets a bit dirty."

HB, "Okay, okay." "So, what did it cost?" "It might be a good commuter bike for me."

Me, "Well, my sister gave that one to me but they usually run under two grand."

HB, "Really?"

Me, "But, there ain't much of a network, so you'll have to do your own maintenance."

HB, "Hmmm.....hubby does all the work on the Harleys, maybe I can talk him into getting one for me."

Me, "You said it ain't a real motorcycle."

HB, "Oh, shut up. It is kinda cute. I gotta go back to work. Bye."

Me, "Bye."

I don't think HB was nearly as snotty when she left.

Luck has it that most of the "Buy a real bike" folks are few and far between.

The 'Fun' part is that I spend most of my time away from the office. If you asked me where I was three weeks ago, I couldn't tell you.

What kind of job do you have?

Personally I like bikes. Pretty much all of them.

Sorta the way I like cats. I don't care what color they are, but how they act and how they behave, I just like them for who they are, the 'breed' is irrelevent.

I'm the head wrench for railroad equipment company, Doc. I train operators on equipment that I've never seen before. I repair stuff that 'just quit working', which has either fallen off a truck at 70 mph or was run over by a locomotive. I listen to people bitch that my products are "that metric crap"(all made Europe). And I spend WWWAAAYYY too much time on the road.
I have met some great people on this gig, though, and seen a lot of the world. I also learned that the most important things you need to work with railroad people are a sense of humor, patience, and to buy 'em lunch.
