Pics of my 1978 Suzuki GS750!

Those of you who have known me for a while know that this bike (her name is Betty) is my 'Buddy Bike'.

Once a year my buddy from Jersey (I know, poor bastard) flys out to visit me and we go for a motorcycle tour, usually 2,000 miles or so in 9-11 days.

Betty was bought and restored for him to ride when he's here. The other 50 weeks of the year she's in storage in my barn.

I treated her to a new paint job.

I hope you all enjoy! Especially those of you who are old enough to remember the times when bikes like Betty were the hottest fastest things on the planet. Back when a 'ninja' was a Japanese swordsman.

It's a period correct Vetter aftermarket fairing. It is pretty big. Vetter is also the manufacturer of the removable hard luggage.

Sweetness! You're buddy did an amazing job. I hope you bought him many beers.

Dig that vintage Vetter stuff. 8) I always wanted that when I was a kid.

Looks awesome Doc! The paint is beautiful! And those Vetter's were an awesome fairing, I had one on my CB450 Custom and I loved it. Those old bikes were pretty much bulletproof. My CB never let me down. Thank you for sharing the pics.

Cheers,
Stew

It was the best they had back then. The truth is it's not a pretty design, but well thought out nd effective. Indeed, there's less wind and wind noise behind that Vetter than on my Gold Wing!

Vetter was a great engineer and inventor, but not the best looking stuff, IMHO.

I remember when a Ninja was a swordsman! About the same time me and a buddy of mine were lusting over Maico's in Dirt Bike magazine! I had a subscription when I was a kid and I used to take the mag over to his place and we would pore over it and dream... Dang, where did those days go?

I think the first wet dream I ever had involved a Honda CB750...

Great days. Now that I have the XS and the GS I'm sorry I sold my KZ...

These bikes are pretty bulletproof. Riding 2,000 miles a year I hope it lasts me pretty much forever. :P

Ah, yes...the days when one bought a bike and then made into their own by customizing...not taking what someone else decided should roll off the factory floor and nothing else will fit...

Great paint and very nice bike set-up.
Bill

Thanks Bill.

Ol' Betty makes an excellent light (by today's standards) tourer. 'Custom' made for my needs, customised by me. :P
