Rim Locks?

This might come off as a dopey question, but I don't know much about rim locks.

The Roketa's wheel never came with a lock and it keeps tearing off the tube valve stem, even after I put wheels screw in both sides.

I have a rim lock that is 1.85" but the dog gone wheel is a 1.60"

It's just that when I make a trial fit, the 1.85 actually sits nice and flush between the rim beads, though it does sit up a bit high.

Can I just use that or will it be a problem if it juts too far up into the tire?

I notice that some locks are rated for dual sizes, ie: 1.4/1.6, 1.6/1.85 etc. so I's like to use the one I have, but if need be I'll pick up the smaller 1.6.

Thank you.

It might fit inside a bare rim nicely, but what about when you add the thickness of both sides of the tire?

Does anyone know the minimum pressure a person can run and not need wheel locks? I've never used them, except on the YZ80 racebike sitting in my garage.

I bit the bullet and installed the 1.85

It seems to actually be fitting fairly well. Will know more after some test riding (though that won't be for a while due to other mods in progress).
