Head Scratching Zongshen ZS250GS Winner NO SPARK

OK so, sorry if this has been done to death, I am brand new here and just on my first Chinese bike. Seems no to be going well.

Bought a 2006 model with 3000kms on it not running, but all together.... the guy who sold it to me said he replaced the CDI and it didn't work so he gave up but after taking the fairings off and peeling some tape off the loom he had butchered the loom, I had a play with it but without a proper wiring diagram and all of the components being a suspect or likley candidate I looked online for spare parts.

Astounded as to how little their is for support in Australia, I spoke to someone who said he had a spare loom for a 250 Zongshen motor. sent it to me and got most of the way of the old loom an dwent to replace the magneto and stator and he's given me an 11 pole magneto, where mine had an 18 pole 3 phase, at this point the spare parts guy didn't want to know me.

I have the new loom connected and the old recifier piggy backed, however the CDI for the 11 pole has what appears to be inputs from the magneto that I can't seem to combine.

The other option is to check the stator and magneto are ok before I put the old loom back in but I don't know if I can visually they are fine, but have oil over them. I think they are meant to be wet though, but I don't know if I can test them.

Can someone help me it's a 172FMM motor with a 18 pole stator I have found a replacement part on AliExpress that in the picture looks identical, but I don't want to wait the few weeks to work out its not them or better still the part is different than pictured.

Sorry for the essay, but thanks for any assistance

Welcome!

I suspect that Humanbeing will chime in; he'll likely have the answer. If he doesn't spot this thread, send him a PM.

WTH is that 11 pole (chonda 3 phase...) ? Zongshen NEVER had that config in their LY200 / LY250 (based on Yamaha )
It's either 16 (as Sierra / search SpudRider's post) or 18. http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=19774777613
18 is ALL DC. Supply good DC 12v source will starts if pickup/ rotor / ign coil / CDI /wiring are in working order

OK, Thanks Humanbeing; It appears you actually know a thing or two about these bikes. I gotta say after dealing with someone who specialises with Chinese Bikes in Australia, I am surprised that their is little information especially correct information about this bike. That link is the exact magneto and stator I will be replacing if it is actually faulty.

can I ask a couple of questions to get me started right here:

1- is the Magneto and Stator meant to have oil in the case with it? mine has oil over it, or do I have to replace a seal before I fit the new ones?

2- Is their a proper wiring diagram anywhere for these things because my loom that came with my bike has some cut wires that are bound to be important.

3- is their a method of testing me Magneto and Stator before ruling them out. In fact if their are any method for testing all of the ignition components coil, CDI, and rectifier I would greatly appreciate the assistance

Thanks for your knowledge on this one, this is my first experience of a Chinese bike and It's proving to be a PITA.

Rotor is not that easy to break...
It's oil bathed...

Basics: http://www.dansmc.com/electricaltesting.htm

Ohm reading will tells which part is failed, as http://www.chinariders.net/showpost....20&postcount=6

Great, looking good

I have continuity between all my magneto winds, so new magneto and pickup

I have what looks like a AC-CDI and I have no plug on my butchered bikes loom, is this the CDI I am meant to have and by the looks I should order one of them too because they are renowned to be dodgey? everything else is ok, I am half way through re fitting the genuine loom, and will probably only run into problems finding wires for my CDI

that is if I can work out how to order something off taobao.com, for the life of me I haven't worked that out yet

having a DC CDI, Can anyone shed any light on how theirs is wired, so I don't fry my new CDI, THe plug was gone when I got the bike and I have 11 wires terminating near the cdi and I can't work out which ones actually go where.

I work well with photos, can someone show theirs wired correctly in a picture? please???
