Too Bad

Just sitting here at lunch perusing the forum.......

It is too bad that the days of getting brand new in the crate inexpensive Chinese dual sport bikes are long gone. If they were still available for $800-$1000 like they used to be there would be a plethora on the streets and forums like this would be buzzing with activity. ...

Good to see that there are still folks around though

I think we are just awaiting the next wave of bikes. I believe we will see a wave of better quality larger displacement units that will carry a higher price tag.

TMECs are around $1700 new, shipped...Qlink had already stepped up the quality a few years back with the Qingqi enduros, but the price was stepped up, too. Now, Qlink and SSR have pretty much the same bikes, but the prices are up there.

My TMEC, which I bought used with 300+ miles ( the speedo cable was broken) has around 8000 or more miles now, since I bought it nearly a year ago.

Seems to me that if the issues are from the EPA, that would encourage the Chinese to clean up the emissions. But I realize that the US is a small market compared to the developing world.

Perhaps China's own extreme pollution issues will push them to evolve to cleaner engines.

"How hard can it be?" I mean they are just making copies, just switch to making newer tech copies!

The US is flooded with used China bikes. I suspect that this forum will be active for quite awhile.

I'm hoping that our Chinese brethren make an XR400 motor with electric start. Then, I hope that several are purchased, which subsequently hit the used market. I'll swoop in and snap up the good used models.

The Shineray X5 has a faithful copy of the Honda NX400 engine, which is basically an XR400R engine with an electric starter.

Unfortunately, the Shineray X5 is not being exported to North America.
