You can try doing a ECU reset. On most EFI systems it's just a matter of turning the key on and off 5 times within a few seconds.

Never underestimate the joys of feeling like cleaning, or tuning or replacing the carb is ALWAYS the problem.

May not be the case...but gosh do I love feeling that way.

EFI ..not for me

EFI has its place, just not on a small, low performance unit, IMHO. It's not like little motorcycle carbs are very complex. Even our little non-pumper carbs have excellent throttle response. I haven't had any real issues with any of my motorcycle carbs that weren't easily cured. Maybe the EFI is for future EPA regs possibly?

Isn't it the same thing as ecotronics?

Just download the programmer and see if it connects and knows the eco. Then you'll have to learn how to program it.

Iv'e downloaded a copy a while back and it seems very simple, compared to megasquirt/megatune.

https://www.ecotrons.com/small_engin...injection_kit/

You can use the exact same troubleshooting method that one would use for a car.

The ecu is likely fine but not speaking to one of the sensors.

Quick update. I have intentionally done nothing to the bike except ride it. I am still just under 150 miles, but I must say it has gotten way better. I still think the idle is a little low, but it is now running much better(and not stalling) at low RPMs.

This is good news maybe the computer just needed some time to adjust

Thank you for sticking with us on updates. great to hear that it seems to be getting better. 150 miles? how does it run at 55mph sustained speed and does the speedo seem accurate?

No 50 plus mph cruising yet. Still waiting to get it street legal. Should all be done next week.

I get silly ideas about using EFI with a turbo.

I'm all registered and legal in SC, wasn't TOO much of a hassle. Took it for one ride, tried to do some 50mph cruising. It is not smooth when cruising. Don't really know how to describe it other than it is just a little "jerky." It certainly is not terrible, but it is irritating. I will give it more time before I start fiddling.

It may get better after some miles on it. Are you getting a check engine light?
Like I suggested in the beginning, try resetting the ECU by turning the ignition switch on and off 5 times within a few seconds. If that doesn't reset it then call American Lifan again and they may tell you how to reset it. Resetting the ECU will usually resolve most issues.

I have not tried this yet, but I am going to.

I am ready to hear other's reports on this bike. Certainly someone is close, eh?

I've tried a hotter plug, higher octane gas, and resetting the ecu. Still runs a little rough.
