Replacing stator questions

Howdy,
My '06 Zonga donger GY200 Sierra is having a starting problem. Nagging problem for the past 2-1/2 years. I am not a mechanic; due to financial constraints I am now.

Problem: no spark at all.
Electric start worked fine, then slowly over time went completely dead. Kick starting only worked for about a week, then it too is impossible.

Questions:
1) Does anybody know a replacement stator for it that will work--and is easier to get? (like from a Suzuki DR or Yami XT/TT)

2)The left side cover is one dang piece. Which means I'd have to drain it and install a new gasket correct?

3)What reading should I get from the stator's plug when I test it? Ohms correct?

So far, I've replaced the ignition coil, the CDI, the plugs, and the carburetor. The problem might not be the stator at all, it could be a bad wire. I don't know. I've been trying to stay away from messing with having to tear down the engine to this point. Any suggestions or tips?

Thx

Thank you, Weld.

In answer to the original poster's questions.

1) If necessary, I suggest you purchase a Zongshen stator/pickup coil from Taobao. While you are at it, get several spare CDI units, et cetera.

2) Yes, you will need to drain the oil before you remove the left crankcase cover. I do suggest you get a new gasket, since the original gasket will probably be glued to the crankcase. While the cover is off, I suggest you section the cover as described in the following thread.

3) You should test all the electrical components to verify they are working correctly. The resistance values are listed in the following thread.

I suggest you start by testing the resistance values, then give us an update regarding your findings.
