New Dunlop 606's on The KLX

VERY aggressive pattern. I'd call it a 97/3 tire :wink: .

I can't believe they are DOT.

I've not ridden it yet. I'll be sure to post a report when I do.

I agree, these look like disasterous tires for wet pavement 8O . On dry pavement they should grip OK, if not wear fast. Roger has them on his KLR and has been pleased.

One down dide with the 606's. Even with my wholesale rate through Andy they are expensive. 8O

How long have you had the KLX for? My girlfriend is looking at getting rid of her ninja and buying one of these or a drz 400. She isnt that tall though. What do you think about her doing this? She is 5ft 5inches

I have many bikes pass through my hands every year. Only the Gold Wing and the KLX are what I refer to permenant members of my collection. Great bikes

I've had the KLX about 8 months and have put 3,500 miles on it, mostly off pavement. No issues.

It is a VERY narrow bike. I can stand over it and touch my toes underneath it. Its narrowness may make it better for people with shorter legs. If your GF will fit on it or not I don't know she'll have to hit the showroom and try.

It is much easier to straddle than a DRZ though, IMHO.

The new tires look great, Doc!

I've run the D606 rear tire on my Honda XR650L. It's a good tire, and it wears pretty well. However, it is very expensive. :( My new, favorite rear tire is the Dunlop D952.

It is much less expensive than the D606, and the tread is more aggressive.

However, if it matters in Washington, the D952 is not DOT approved.

It does not matter here, but I went with D/S DOT tires because I assumed they would be safer on the road, and I do use this bike to commute sometimes and also some mild canyon carving.

You can't go wrong with the D606 tires, Doc! The D606 tires perform very well, and they will last a very long time.

I'm pleased to report my D952 rear tire does perform very well on the street.

Even with my wholesale discount from my friend Andy these tires still cost about $200 for the pair.

I may try 952's next time, unless these wear especially well.

Yes, that's my point, Doc.

The D952 performs very well on pavement, and it also wears very well.

The D952 has a very aggressive tread, and performs even better off road than the D606.

However, the D606 is still a very good, dual sport tire.

I just think the D952 is an exceptional value if you don't need DOT approval for your tires.
