KLR650 Brake Lever Fits Zongshen 200GY-2
Several days ago I took a ride to a favorite mountaintop which rises to 9,200 feet above sea level.
The air was clear, and I could see Grand Teton Peak, located 107 aerial miles away in Wyoming! You can see Grand Teton Peak on the horizon at the left of the photograph below. The wind was blowing pretty hard, but I was still surprised when a gust of wind knocked my Zong from its kick stand! 8O After lifting the Zong from its "napping position," I noticed the fall had bent the front brake lever into a hook. 8O I took a few more photographs of the Zong (with its bent brake lever) before I descended from the mountain. My Zong employs the common, Chinese front brake, which is a copy of the front brake used on the Hyosung GF125, and the Suzuki GP125. Therfore, I went to the local Honda/Suzuki dealer, to see if they could match my bent brake lever. When they could not do so, I decided to take a trip to the local Kawasaki dealer, where I met success! I bought a Motion Pro 14-0315 brake lever which fit my Zong's master cylinder perfectly! This front brake lever will also fit most other chinabikes which employ the Hyosung GF125/Suzuki GP125, front brake. The Motion Pro, 14-0315 brake lever fits the following, Kawaski motorcycles. KD 80 1988-1990 KL 250D 1991-2005 KL 650A 1987-2007 KL 650B 1990-1991 This front brake lever fits the first generation, 1987-2007, KLR650, as well as most models of the KLR250. Spud

Bummer about the fall but a great day nonetheless!
I've had my YZ blown off its stand too, in a paved parking lot. No damage but I didn't like it at all.

I guess I've grown accustomed to high winds here. I didn't think the wind was blowing that hard.
Nevertheless, I'm very glad to know the first generation (1987-2007), KLR650, front brake lever works on my typical, chinabike front brake! The Motion Pro, brake lever I bought is nicely manufactered, reasonably priced, and fits my Zong's front brake perfectly. To acquire a spare brake lever I am going to buy a Tusk brake lever for the KLR650 from Rocky Mountain ATV/MC. http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/...NT+BRAKE+LEVER Spud

Spud, was that the first time you've replaced the front brake lever?

The mighty KLR strikes again! Well, the brake lever anyway
Sorry to hear about the wind knocking the Zong over, but glad to hear that you were able to source a readily available replacement lever. With KLR's having an almost cult following you can be sure you'll have a steady supply forever |

Well, the new KLR's are assembled in Thailand... I think that's closer to China than Japan!

The Sierra was definitely not part of the GY-200 mold (although, ironically called a GY-200) with its different looks and Yamaha-cloned/clone-ish engine, so I would think that Yamaha footpegs make sense. However, one of our past members who used to document his Roketa discovered the footpegs working. Of course, I would suggest that someone try it out before committing to purchasing them to confirm this....

I went the other direction, and installed wide GY pegs on my Yamaha TW200. The fit is terrific. Cheap too.

The stock foot pegs on my Zong are superb. They are very wide, and very rugged; I doubt I will ever have to change them.
I installed Chinese foot pegs on my Honda XR650L. They are very similar to my Zong's foot pegs, and I like them a lot. Spud

The KLR650, front brake lever fits perfectly on my chinabike master cylinder; it is working superbly! Here's a photograph of the Kawasaki, front brake lever installed on my Zong.

Beautiful mountain views. Who would of thought it would be KLR part. Glad you found the replacement.
Spud how does it feel comparing to stock? Can you notice any difference?
