Gonna Miss Ya, Buddy

Trevor. 1999-2013

We had to put the little guy down at 3AM this morning. He'd been going through Congestive Heart Failure for the last 18 months. Yesterday, he was feeling a bit chipper and decided to give chase to one of the Whitetails that frequent our backyard.

It was his final chase.

He is already missed.

man, my condolences, i know what its like to loose a friend... i have (in my short 25 yr life) have lost a dog to cancer, another to a car accident, another to canine immune disorder(doggy leukemia) and another to natural causes... it never is easy, because they become part of the family, not just a pet...

I'm sure that Trevor is chasing Whitetails in Heaven. I bet he was a great dog.

Thanks, Guys.

It's kind of quiet here at Cheesy Manor today. Trev's' canine partner in crime, Dasher, is in a pretty deep funk along with the rest of us. It wasn't unexpected. But, still.......

He was a wonderful dog. Mrs. C found him, cold, wet, and hungry, wandering in our backyard after a storm. No tags, no chip, and looking abused. We took him in, cleaned him up, fed him, and gave him a warm place to sleep.

Had him checked out by the vet and got him his shots. We found out from the vet that he was about a year old. It took a month or so for him to figure out that we weren't going to hurt him and he eventually worked his way up to the bed, sleeping at Mrs. C's feet.

He had a penchant for laying on my legs when I had my feet on an Ottoman. Which caused my first knee surgery. He was devoted to Mrs.C and protective of Dasher, as long as Dasher wasn't eating out of his bowl.

I'm really going to miss the squeaky greeting I'd get when I'd come home from a road trip and how he'd lay in my lap when I'd be under the weather.

Your "squeaky greeting" reference reminded me of Cody, the screaming dog. Click on the link if you want a good laugh:

I am sorry to hear about your loss. Pets are important 'people' in our lives. Most of us can relate to how you feel now :-( I believe that the relationship between people and pets (dogs and cats in particular) is a gift from God, and that He cares for our pets as unique Creations as well. Your dog is in good hands.

If he had to go, no better way that he did though.
