Zongshen ZS200GY-2: Domestic Rear Tires

Here is the rear tire selection currently available in North America for owners of the Zongshen 200GY-2, and the new Zongshen RX3. All these tires are size 130/90-15. I have not listed the tires in any particular order.

Kenda K671

Pirelli MT66

Bridgestone G508

Shinko SR734

Dunlop D404

Dunlop K627

The Dunlop K627 is only available for sale on eBay.

I like Kenda tires. I think these tires will perform very well on pavement, but I wouldn't want to ride on any of them in the mud.

The Shinko looks well equipped for the rain.

I also like Shinko tires. In particular, I like the way the deep, large siping extends to the edge of the sidewall, and also extends all the way around the center of the tread for that tire.

That's what I was thinking. The Dunlop D404 has decent siping as well, but it doesn't look aggressive enough for this type of bike.

The Dunlop K627 looks like it might clean itself from mud a little better than the others.

Indeed, this tire might be closest to the stock, CST C6017.

FWIW, I ve got the D 404 on front and rear for road riding and the bike grips the road noticeably better than with the original Chin Shen. However, the CS was very durable, I don t know yet how the Dunlop will do.

I think the K627 is a discontinued model so anything out there is NOS on ebay. Too bad some trials tires are not available.

Agreed. DOT trials tires are terrific.

I think you are exactly correct. To the best of my knowledge the K627 has been discontinued. For this reason the tire is only available for sale on eBay, and must be new old stock.

Nevertheless, the tire is reasonably priced, and would serve to tide someone over until he converted to a larger rear wheel.

X3. However, I doubt one will ever find a trials tire which fits a 15-inch cruiser rim.

I do also. It's too bad Dunlop discontinued manufacturing that tire. However, NOS tires are still available for good prices on eBay.
