Qlink XF200 Alternate Tank Vent
Hey everyone,
I have a Qlink XF200 that I've been doing some work on recently, and the first thing I did was remove all the EPA emission junk they strap on these bikes. The only problem is that since the tank vent is from inside the tank rather than out the cap, it seems that a bit of gas ends up into the vent line. At first, I ran the vent line down the bike so it will drip on the ground, but I would rather have it set up more like dirt bikes, where the vent is above the tank so gas won't drip out. I purchased a dirtbike tank vent like this http://www.amazon.com/Motorcycle-Bil...fuel+tank+vent But because the vent collects some gas in the line, it wont vent properly if this is above the tank. It seems my only option would be to tap a barbed nipple into the top of the tank to attach my vent to and plug up the stock one. The one other thing I noticed is that the carb has a vent line coming out the side of it (not the float bowl drain). I was wondering if I can connect the tank vent to this so any gas that drips out will end up in the float bowl. Will this cause any problems? Thanks everyone, -TT |

Welcome!
I like the idea of drilling and tapping the cap for simplicity, but I'd buy a new cap for that purpose. I'm not sure that attaching to the vent would work, because both devices are trying to expel. I really don't know for sure; it's just a theory.

Welcome; we are glad you joined us.
![]() I don't have any advice to offer, so I will defer to others with more knowledge of the XF200 fuel tanks. ![]()

I know it has been a while, but I just wanted to update what I have done for anyone else reading this with the same question.
I ended up connecting the fuel tank vent hose and a billet tank vent to a Y splitter, then connecting that to the float bowl vent on the carb. My speculation is that the condensed fuel will drip into the float bowl, and the fumes will escape through the vent. If there is anything wrong with this setup, please let me know before something gets damaged ![]() Normally I have the billet vent tucked up behind the fairings under the seat ![]() Thank you everyone! -TT |

Seems reasonable to me. Please let us know if the vent ever leaks, or if there are running problems.

My SSR came with a locking gas cap that appears to be venting by design or not...enough to cause some very minor paint bubbling around the opening.
Same tank as the qlink but different carb.

I've been riding it with this setup for the past couple months and have had no leaking problems or venting issues.
