PZ 30 Carb

Can someone identify the adjustment screws for me? There was a thread where someone posted photo of the carb with them labeled but you think I could find that again?

Thanks

The screw on the side is for idle adjustment. The screw on the underside (at the front of the bowl) is the pilot mixture screw. Proper adjustment of the PM screw is attained when you can crack the throttle without considerable hesitation or bogging. The trick is to GENTLY screw it all the way in, and then back it out while counting the turns. It should be done with a hot motor, but that hurts. You can also turn the screw in 1/8 turn increments after the engine has cooled and test again. Depends how much time you have.

BTW, if you have to back out the PM screw more than two turns, your slow jet is too small.

So turned the mix in about 1/4 and it runs a little better. Still bogs some and backfires but not like it was. Will let it cool down and turn it in another 1/4.

Old plug on the left new plug from todays run.

The old plug looks a little lean.

Turned it another 1/4 doing even better, still pops and bogs when cruising at a constant speed, pulls hard up hills and when you get on it.

Left is this run right still the original.

I think part of my backfire is no back pressure, seems they really opened up the muffler.

Anyway keeps getting better....

Had it backwards, the old plug is the rich one on the right.

I'm glad you said that. Your latest adjustments seem to have it very lean. I'd add some more fuel. Are you doing a plug chop? If so, at which throttle position?

No chop yet but I got the bright idea to clean up the old plug so I can keep swapping them to see me progress.

I have limited room but I'll kill it around 30mph 3/4 throttle.
