Hello from Minneapolis, Minnesota

I am interested in buying one of these chinese dual sport motorcycles. I have been looking at all the china bike forums trying to decide which one is the best. I also have questions about registering it here in Minnesota.

Welcome, jeffhei! Hope this forum can be of some help to you. I bought my Lifan last August and have enjoyed it. I spoke by phone with Quad Central Motorsports in Ham Lake about that time. They carry the Lifan but were sold out of the model I wanted, so I ordered mine via ebay from T-motorsports. I had no problem getting it registered in MN, but if you do like I did and order it from an importer instead of from a dealer, make sure they sign the MCO over to your name. You will need a bill of sale as well.

Thanks gyjoe. I was hoping someone in this group was from Minnesota. I have been looking at alot of photos of bikes on this and the other forums. I am leaning toward the Lifan 200GY-5. I would like to see one up close. Ill check out Quad Central Motorsports.

A few of the bikes are EPA/DOT certified, including the Lifan dual sports. I think a couple Roketa models and more recently, Jetmoto are DOT certified. Californians need not apply as the DOT cert. is for 49 state registration. Buy from an authorized dealer and you will have the least chances for registration error, as opposed to mail order...
