Looking for 125cc (or larger) bike under $1k
Hello, everyone! I know this could probably be Googled, but after hours and hours of consulting every dealer site and dozens of Google search pages, I have yet to find a fruitful answer to this question: I am looking for a street motorcycle in the 125-150cc range under $1000 (that isn't the Grom/Vader or sportbike style; I was thinking a standard/naked) and haven't really found much (short of going on Alibaba and importing one myself). My only real criteria are it being a standard/naked or cruiser motorcycle (not moped), it being able to hit 40-45mph with my skinny (115lb) ass on it, it having a 4 stroke engine, and being under or around $1000 (though the cheaper the better). Thank you in advance for any help!

There are no bikes fitting that criteria other than scooters. The Grom-like vehicles (i.e. Vader) do not fit that criteria, except one online retailer had the Vader for about $1k shipped but the one member who got that deal had to wait for about a month for the bike and weeks for the MCO. They are no longer listing them at all. You are going to have to bump up your price threshold to about $1400-1500 (including shipping), and then that is for an enduro in the '250' class (223 to 229cc depending on brand). The only non-enduros that I have seen are the ones from Dongfang http://www.df-motor.com/Product.asp?...me=Motorcycles and these are about $2k. More expensive and you are looking at this bike http://www.cscmotorcycles.com/CSC-RZ3-2017-p/zrz3.htm
Personally, I am eagerly awaiting this machine (I am a closet 'standard motorcycle' fan) http://americanlifan.com/motorcycles/kp200/ which I am guessing will be close to $3k.

You could try searching for a lightly used Kymco Kpipe. While grom-esque, it has 17 inch wheela and is a bit bigger than any o its competitors. New they are about 2k, but you might track a used one down near your price range. Otherwise, to get in the door on the cheapest street legal bikes, you are looking at an enduro style like culcune mentioned.
That said, you may consider the RPS Magician. While more "enduro" than a traditional bike, it does not look like a typical dual sport and more like a road bike, has a shorter seat height, and a more street friendly suspension with less suspension travel (if I remember correctly) and it comes in new just a hair over $1k, not including shipping.

I will have to ask Alan again why they chose 200cc vs. 250cc

Sorry s1rv.. off topic again. Culc I'm sure it was a decision so it would not have to compete with the 250 class that suddenly everyone is a player in.

if you can find one that needs a little work, you may get it for much less.
you will have to repair it, but at least you're within your budget, and you would have to learn to do repairs anyway. |
