coil coil and recoil

i ordered a coil on ebay recently, the listing says up to 250cc, but they keep sending me coils that clearly say 50cc-125cc on the label.
everything else "seems" to check out ok. i even went so far as to completely rewire the entire bike, just in case i may have missed a ground or something...

it will start and run for a couple minutes, then die. after that it will crank until the battery goes down without ever hitting again. if i give it 30 minutes to cool down, it starts right up and we do the whole thing again. it was running great before this coil issue came up.

am i missing something? are these 50-125cc coils the same as the 200-250cc coils?

the ebay seller says they are "identical" to the 200-250cc coils... i'm not so sure...

Try sticking the cdi in the freezer for a half hour to see if it will run a little longer .I have run tiny weedwacker coils on 250 dirt bikes before ,don't know what coil you ordered but it might be fine .

I've not tried the freezer test b4 but I've been told it helps to diagnose a coil failure....anxious to hear your results

I would dare say that your coil is fine... I would be replacing the cdi box before the coilll lot more to go wrong with a cdi...
