HAWK Rear Tire

Hey guys I just had some questions about Tires and their sizes. I already bought a new front tire for me HAWK and I bought it at the exact marked size (80/100-21) marked on the sight.

Now for the Rear Tire (that I am now trying to buy, Size: 110/100-18) A LOT (almost all) of the sizes, on the site, are converted from mm to inches.
110mm = 4.33in

So what I was wondering is how close do I have to be for the tire to still fit? some are marked 4.10, 4.00, 4.20 ect.

The one I want to buy is 4.10/100-18 and want to know if that would be okay, and if not how close, in inches, should I be? Thanks.

Anything between a 4.0 and 4.6 will generally work fine. There are quite a few tires in the 4.3 and 4.6 width The Hawk rear rim width (at the inner flanges) is 2.15" nominally (mine is actually 2.2"), So if you look at the manufacturers tire data on their website you will see recommended rim width as well as a range of widths that will work with their tire.

The 4.10 tire you are looking at will work just fine. It will be a little bit skinnier than the stock tire, but will work just fine.

Are you wanting just another knobby style tire, or are you looking at dual sport tires?

Hey thanks for that info!

I got a 50/50 dual sport tire for the front, and as for the Rear I do love having the knobbies when I do go offroad. BUT for the amount of Street riding I do I think Im going to have to go with a 50/50 on the Rear as well.

Those poor knobbies on the stock tires have taken their beatings lol and I think I'll get enough grip off road (For the trails I take) and hopefully they will last longer as well

The Shinko 700 or 244 sound like the perfect tires for you. The 700 only comes in sizes that work on the Hawks wheels, so it's hard to get the wrong size lol.

If you like the knobbies for off road but need something better for on road, you might want to look at a Pirelli MT 43, which is a trials type tire, but with long life. You can check customer comments out on a couple of internet sales outlets...ARH

In the trials tyre style there are a couple of new kids on the block...

Kenda K787 Equilibrium..
Trials centre patten with MX style
side nobs for more cornering grip...

And the
MotoZ Mountain Hybred...
again is a trials / MX cross..

A trials tyre at the right pressure gives
unreal traction on firm to hard ground
even work ok in soft & mud but having
the right psi is the trick with them more so
than with a nobbly tyre..

stay away from Dunlop & Michelin trials tyres
they are for competition only don't like heat
the rubber melts if used on the road..

.

the 700 dose come in a 130/17... maybe a bit wide for the hawk...
would fit the 2.5' rim nicely....

Pete, one of the attractions of the Hawk is the fact that it comes with a 21 inch front, and an 18 inch rear....ARH
