Cone filter users-What did you do with the other hoses?

I'm looking at the possibility of taking the air filter box completely off the bike and replacing it with a cone filter. If I do this I am wondering where I'm going to route the three or four other hoses that run into that box.
2 come off the crankcase, and it looks like they are all just vents that happened to end there. I know on my other bike (honda) the vents are just kind of hanging. Did anyone do anything special with all of these vents or did you just zip tie them somewhere so that they would not get water into them?

The hawk only has the one coming out of the crankcase running to the air box. Just zip tie the one coming out of the crankcase and put a PCV valve on the end of it. The other one must be hooked up to the EPA crap. Just remove the EPA stuff and cap everything off.

Are you going to ride in dirty or dusty conditions? If so, a foam pod filter is a good choice. Here's my favourite: https://www.ebay.com/itm/42mm-Angled...FaDM7N&vxp=mtr

Honda simply routes the crankcase hose behind the motor and points it at the ground. My personal preference is to use a fuel filter in the hose, rather than a PCV valve. The rest of the emissions stuff can be discarded. If you have an air injection device, it is likely feeding a cat with fresh air, so the cat can also be discarded. That'll require fatter jets, since it'll need more fuel to compensate for the additional airflow. You'll need fatter jets anyway, since your new air filter will outflow the stock box.

A third option for the breather tube is to buy some fuel/oil line of the proper size for the fitting and then route it vertically up under the seat. Find a brass hose fitting or metal tube of the right size to put in the end of the hose, and on the other end a breather filter.

You can also follow this example for a small oil seperator from harbor freight that is popular among budget minded Grom owners, and put it inline between the engine and breather. I actually plan on trying this idea out on my Hawk after I cut my airbox apart to open up space but leave the rear wheel well portion.

As far as the other hoses go, as Jerry said, you can remove and cap off any of the air injection system if your bike has it. You will need to make a simple block off plate for the head if you do so.

I took the cover off of my air box to see the difference in air flow. I need to adjust jets because I have to apply half choke now to get it to run correctly through acceleration. Am I correct in remembering that since I will reduce restriction in air flow by eliminating the box and adding a foam filter, I will need to enlarge the jets to add fuel? More air needs more fuel, right?

Also, I should prob get the new unrestricted exhaust that you guys all have too so all this flow has somewhere to go.

You are correct on the jetting. Get the exhaust too. It will run so much better after those mods.
