Yuma Prison Riot

As some of you know, I gave up a teaching job in Arizona at the state prison complex in Yuma, AZ to move 'back' ('back' being relative since I lived in AZ for 15 years) to So. California to keep an eye on my aging parents, make a bunch more money, and give up the option of owning cheap Chinese enduros, although the Grom-like-vehicles such as the various Vaders, the Taotao Hellcat, the SSR Razkull, etc. are legal here in California. My last day at the Cheyenne Unit at the state prison complex in Yuma was January 5, 2018. I missed out on all the fun that happened this past Thursday...

Looks like you bailed just in time!
I used to have do jobs my old boss would bid on inside some institutions and hated every second of them. Having to work in the bowels of the Old Folsom Prison was like walking onto the set of Shawshank Redemption. VERY depressing place. Looked just like all the movies. prisoners leaning up against walls, smoking cigarettes, every one of them giving me "the eye" as I walked across the open yard. The gun turrets didn't give much relief.
The scariest one though was a prison for the criminally insane I had a job at. Very spooky place.
It takes a special breed to hang out in those environments every day.

2LZ, you're describing my experiences. I hate working in the Pen and avoid it whenever possible.

Funny enough, even after about 6 and a half years, I enjoyed working at the state pen. Yes, strange looks and all that, but after going back into public education, I prefer inmates as students over kids, LOL

I had been doing work for the DOT in front of the infamous Lewis Prison out side Buckeye for several days back in 2004. Some of our techs had to go inside The Wire to perform their duties.
-A few months later, a riot occurred at the Lewis Prison and a female corrections officer was taken hostage for 15 days. Fortunately, it ended peacefully.

Oh my on the weather front. Wish you were here next week. I am going on a 4 day group mix riding off pavement to big bend and terlingula TX area ( Chihuahuan Desert).

You need to get your chain saw fired up for some single tracks on your land (NH) this spring

my jerk step bro told me they get 3 feet of sunshine in florida where he lives.

I have a bobcat so the plan is to make some trails that my son and I can rip around on with the go karts and bikes.

If I only had a paving rig and a spare 100K for asphalt I would build an auto cross course. I'd be dangerous with a little more money.

of course the 300 yard range is already planned.
