Got my oil cooler, couple questions.

A couple or several questions actually.

First off I have read over and over all the threads on Hawk oil coolers I can find.

1. I assume just by my cursory inspection the screen stays out from the oil drain hole and the adapter thingy just screws in? How much torque? My normal technique of torque it until it crack then back it off a quarter is probably counter productive.

2. Do I need to prime anything like use a funnel and pour oil into the cooler once the bottom park it attached in the motor before startup?

3. 2 quarts of oil will be more than sufficient to fill er up?

4. Do you like gladiator movies? Wait......... (you will not get it if you are not old)

5. Any other tips to make it go easier?

1. It doesn't take a ton of torque, plus there isn't really a way to use a torque wrench on these things. Just spin it on until you feel it seat and give it a good 1/8th to 1/4 turn. If you see any oil seeping out after you run it, then snug it up a bit more. A little hylomar on the threads is also a good idea.

2. It's always a good idea to prime the oil cooler. You can try to use a syringe or small funnel, but usually I will crank the bike over with the ignition disabled (and fuel turned off) until I get oil out of the return line. Either way will suffice.

3. 2 quarts is more than enough, unless you opted for one massive oil cooler lol.

4. Have you ever been in a Turkish prison?

5. Patience.

Megadan has it covered It takes about 1 1/4 quarts of oil. With the dual coolers it take about 1 1/2 quarts.
