Hand Guards for Hawk 250

What hand guards can I get for the Hawk 250? I found a pair that I thought would fit, but they requires that I cut my grips and remove the balls on the clutch and brake levers...no thanks!

move your levers in..or get short levers..

all hand guards/bark busters worth having need the end of the grip cut off...

I put a cheap set off of Amazon on my Hawk. I had to cut the balls off the end of the levers, and punch holes in the end of the grips. Not a bad trade off at all.

I bought the knockoff acerbis hand guards on Amazon for 30 dollars and they are very quality! the brake and clutch just need to pushed inside the bars a bit, but there is plenty of room.

I dropped my bike from a stand still right on the grid screw and broke a Tiny piece of plastic, but I was in a highway collision and the bike fell on its side right on the handgaurd. The master brake cylinder was fine and the handgaurd are still good. just a couple scratches.

I did the Amazon knock thing too. Side by side they are identical and $60 cheaper to the Acerbis ones, just no "logo" printed on the plastic. The Chi-Cerbis hardware is trash, just barely useable really low quality.

But If you are even a remotely serous woods rider then these are standard issue. Over the years they have always "Paid" for them selves at least once a season over the last 5 bikes.

And as an added bonus they cut the wind down on your hands in the winter. Ya it's not hot out but highly reduced frostbite. Over 45MPH you just freez.

I have had those on my XT660 for atleast 5 years...
All most unbendable..but the mounting hard ware is crap..

I tap the end of my alloy bars for a 16mm set screw just long
enough for it to bind up on the end of the thread..
put the set screw in the lathe and drill/tap a 8mm hole down it then lock tight it into
the bar end then the barkbusters can screw into it...

PS.. has to be alloy bars... steel have the thinner wall so the ID is
to big..

They come with a vinyl tube spacer that slips over the insert to account for that. They will snug up pretty tight. Only issue I had with mounting was the bolts that attach the hand guards to the mounting brackets were too long and had to cut them. I have the short leavers and don't think the stock levers will fit.

Boy what a relief! Cutting the balls off is a real drastic solution. If "She who must be obeyed" mandated this, I'd think this through real carefully...ARH
