Need some help with my bike
OK so i bought myself a rock mt 250cc I got it not running but when I took the top end apart I lost the timing on it and having a little trouble getting the timing back
The bike supposably runs off a crf 230 engine but I can't find anything about timing on the crf 230 ![]() |

What do you mean “lost the timing “ ,do you mean you no longer have spark or that you dropped it on the ground and can’t find it or ?

You have timing marks on the flywheel and the cam gear. You have to get all the marks where they need to be with the crankshaft/piston to the correct stroke of the 4 cycle engine.
You can probably use any "old" single cylinder motorcycle manual to figure this out. Google is your friend on honda 125cc manual.

These are pretty easy motors to get the timing marks lined up. The easiest part is to first set the crank at TDC by lining up the Line with the T mark next to it with the notch in the timing mark window hole.
Now on the cylinder head, the cam lobes should be facing down (not pushing on the rocker arms) and the cam gear should have two lines on either side of the cam center . Those lines should sit parallel to the edge of the cylinder head surface (bolts holding the sprocket should line up vertically with the piston).

It's not unusual for the flywheels to not all be marked properly. Some have two lines, others only 1. Some have the mark letters, others don't. Kind of annoying really, but as long as you know that mark is TDC, then that is all you need. Get the camshaft lined up correctly and the chain in place, put the tensioner on and then slowly spin the motor over by hand to make sure things aren't hitting and everything is happening when it should and you should be fine. These engines are made to be simple, and being a 1 cylinder only helps with the simplicity factor.
