Disclaimer: This is only an intellectual exercise. A rational person would never think of removing a working catalytic converter.

The TAO TBR7 has a place where the catalytic converter is located. Because maintaining the proper exhaust bends is important, there is this notion that one could cut half way through on either side of the welds that hold the cat, then cut through one connecting perpendicular line and score the opposite side to create a kind of single use hinge to expose and remove the cat.

My question is where does the cat begin and end. Exploratory surgery always carries some risk. There is a crude picture that attempts to illustrate this concept. Will this cut expose enough of the cat for destructive removal or would the borders need to be expanded to the next welds?
