DF250RTG Front Sprocket Options

I am looking to lengthen my gears a bit with a bigger front sprocket on my DF250RTG. Does anyone know where to find sprockets for it? I believe the engine is the 165FMM 223cc. Thanks in advance!

No, it’s just my name. My parents had a sense of humor I suppose. I am going to check those out. I haven’t even looked at the stock one yet, was just hoping someone would know off the top of their head.

Your engine, according to the DOT/EPA certification list, has Zongshen as the OEM. Either way, you can pretty much get the same sprocket as the XR250, but your limitations might occur at how much room you have once you remove the cover. 17 tooth is ideal for street, but some people (not necessarily with Dongfangs) have found the 17 a bit too big and they need to sand down things to get it to fit. Barnone would be the one to ask.

I haven't felt the need to change the gearing on my DF250RTG. It seems to be geared just fine for riding here in the mountains as it is all two lane curves and elevation changes here. This area is motorcycle riding Mecca.

I believe I've found the answer.

https://www.amazon.com/Wingsmoto-Spr...9958416&sr=8-6

This is the same sprocket listed on Venom Motorsports website that they are selling for $60. I did a little digging and have found that the difference between the CB250 and CG250 is that the CB uses a 17mm shaft, whereas the CG uses a 20mm.

*I think.

Anyways, I went ahead and ordered this one. If it doesn't fit, its prime so I get free returns.

Once I get around to putting it on, I will confirm fitment and report performance changes.

I thought wrong. The 17mm shaft is too small and does not fit. I will continue the search for a larger sprocket that fits. The bike currently revs about 5.5k at 50mph in 5th gear which is a little on the high side for cruising in my opinion.

Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Being that it's Honda CB clone you probably will use the same sprocket as the Hawk. Check the dimension against the one on Amazon.

Take some measurements and spline count and post so we can help find the right one. pictures help too.

Mine has a 15 front. I don’t know about the rear. But after holding up the 17 to the shaft, I think a 17 may be too big. Seriously, MAYBE a fingernail would fit between the chain and engine case on the front. I don’t really want to take a grinder to my brand new engine just yet, so I’m going to go with a 16 next. I don’t need 70mph out of this bike, I just want 5th gear a little later.

I wish I had calipers handy so I could just measure the stock one and be done with it. Maybe barnone has a pair and will measure his and share dimensions with the class

I’ve found out that the Apollo DB36 RX uses the same engine, but I can’t find anything on the front sprocket for it either.

My calipers are in Florida. I ordered one but won't be here until the 7th.
