Thumbs Up Tbr7 update

Hi all. Today was a beautiful spring day! Time for a ride, put 20km. On
My bike, installed the 17 tooth sprocket (still haven't got my jets yet).
Rode some side streets, got it up to speed, I can tell the difference just
From the 17tooth. The gears wind out more, first is good for more that
1.897654 mph! Helps in the trails better. Rode some power lines, and some
Pretty decent short hills in the woods. Stock tires SUCK in anything that
LOOKS like it MIGHT be sand! Or dirt for that matter, I gotta get nobbies!
Bike is not so nimble on tight single track woods. bike is tall and weighs
165lbs more that my 5,7inch me😟 I'm thinking 43 tooth rear,maybe
A little smaller 41? And I should be ok. One thing I'm noticing is
Engine braking. My first 4 stroke, always had 2 stroke, with this bike
As soon as you roll off the throttle, the bike wants to slow down. Seems
As you can't coast in gear. So your always either accelerating,maintaining
Speed or slowing down. And if you chop the throttle at higher rpm's
It's a very Noticeable. ( ever drive an electric car? Like a tesla sport car)
Anyway I had fun.

3rd gear will coast fairly well, for my local roads I live in 3rd.

1st and 2nd as you say, once you lay off the throttle its like a rubber band power-train pulling you back

Fun none the less.

Not too many dual sports in my location (tightly packed suburb )... so I do get waves from everyone, including the Harley bro's ... my guess is people can't figure out WTF I am riding.

Hi king. I'm over just north of exit 58 L.I.E. not far behind JAKE'S 58. I do see a few
Duel sports out this. Way, not to many. We have more woods. I've been checking out
The trails that I remember from the early 80's. Some are still there. Lil slow going with
THIS bike. But then again it's NOT 1982, and I'm not blasting on a 1980 Hondo cr80!
(First year they started making them) also when I assembled my bike I greased what
I could, including the swing arm bolt,however, now that I'm looking at schematic's
Of that area,there seems to be needle bearings that are holding a metal sleeve in
There, if so I have to remove that metal tube
to grease the bearings, there probably dry.
Does anyone have info, or done that before?
Well safe riding every one.

We are not too far off, I am around exit 43 off LIE

You are correct, the swing arm bolt sits in a sleeve, to which I greased the bolt but not the sleeve or bearings.

Check out TBR7 Rider on Youtube , specifically the video below, he does not take you step by step ( wish he did ), however he shows it apart in his vid

Oh No Got my jets. Well sorta!

Hi all. I received the jet kit I ordered. To do my swap on tbr7,......AND
Jets 88-100 same size visually, to small. Jets 105 and 115are smaller than
The 110, but still bigger than the smallest. 120-150 proportions seem to
Increase in order! Guess what jet I needed the most for my altitude and
Bike? That's right the 105. It's a crap shoot now. I put in the 110 jet and
Took it for a quick test, can't tell if it's any better, I sent the seller a email
We'll see were that goes. My bike made a pop sound a couple of time after
High rpm shut down, never did that before even with the stock 88 jet
Ill keep you all posted

That "pop" is called a "verbal" or "burble" and is a good sign you're on the right track!

Hi shiftclick burble, ok. Ill play around this weekend, my carb is the stock one. I shimmer the needle 1 washer,air screw 1/1\2 turns out pilot jet says kehien #36

pop n burble is tech exhaust talk for 'lean" keep opening the air screw little by little till it has gone when on decel - then close to perfection or very least good enough and job well done.

Chris, assuming we are similar elevation, my tuning for my TBR7 was as follows:

100 main jet

Air\Fuel screw 1.5 turns out from bottom ( 2 turns was rich )

Needle shim 1 level lower from center ( i.e. raised the needle up 1 notch )

Idle screw set to 1500 RPM via portable lawnmower tachometer

I still run a little rich in my opinion ( based on the plug appearance ) and I never need to choke the bike.

Im no carb guru, but I still need to tinker, I may put the needle back to center no shim and test from there.
