A little help, missing Elec start gear part?

Howdy all,

It appears, or is that disappears. That my used cg250 had some part robbed out before I got it.

I serviced the Electric starter motor and removed the cover on the other side to find nothing but a shim washer.

In haste I ordered a new starter clutch but when I opened the parcel I found that that is not the correct part that goes there.

There must be a transfer reduction gear or something...Looks the the previous owner yoinked it.

Would appreciate any help from the forum community in identifying the correct part to be replaced.

Appreciation in advance .

Part number 3 for the gear, Part number 2 for the thrust washer. If I remember correctly, there should be a thrust washer on both sides of the gear, between it and the locating pin that sits in the grooves on the case and the cap.

Absolutely make sure those pins are in the grooves on each end, or you will be in for a not very fun day. Also, the smaller gear of the two goes toward the inside of the motor, bigger gear toward the cap side.

Also, if you need a new O ring for said cap. Part number 5 on this link. https://store.cscmotorcycles.com/TT2...OVER-s/314.htm

Not sure if CSC ships to Australia or not, but you can at least reference the pictures and part listings on the dismensions to help you maybe find something more local to you.

Alternative option would be ebay. https://www.ebay.com/i/111719737170?...BoCMV0QAvD_BwE

Thanks Megadan,

I did some sleuthing,

I think the mystery of why the engine was so cheap. and the missing starter reduction gear just made sense.

Someone installed it incorrectly...bad things happened so they removed it and left the shaft.

The locating pin was not 'located' and the shaft was spinning. Also a indentation mark at 11o'clock seems to indicate where it was installed and torqued down.

So they went to kick start only. I counted the teeth appears to be an 17t starter idler gear assembly which i can find on Aliexpress. might just roll dice and try to install a new 1.

(noticed there are also 16t and 18t versions so made sure to double check the tooth count)

o well wouldn't be life without a few hurdles.
