Are you looking for the bearings or the missing nut?

The nut, I bought a 22mm nut that was slightly too small, and I bought something on ebay for a honda 250 that I thought might fit but it was too small.

I'm not seeing that nut available by itself on Csc or peace's website, but give Jeff a call at peace www.brozz250.com and I'll bet he'll help you out.

Thanks, I'll give a call tomorrow.

So far I ordered a 22mm 24mm and 25mm nut, and none of them fit. 24 was too small, 25 is too big.

Here is a novel thought.

Measure it, check the thread pitch,

then order the proper size from an industrial supply center.

There is a bright side, this could give you the motivation to swap the triple tree and forks to a better quality option.

I wind up just finding myself upgrading substandard quality components as I have things apart typically. The stock ones are not completely terrible, but better options certainly exist.

Doh! Steering Stem Nut size

Did you ever determine what size the steering stem nut is for this bike? I just lost mine today on a ride and now have motivation to remove forks for fork oil change and grease steering stem bearings per the video attached to this thread.

Question Measurements of steering stem bolt for nut replacement

I measured the steering stem bolt for the nut. It is 24 mm wide and 10 mm depth. Tomorrow I will attempt to measure the threads.

If anybody out there can confirm my measurements and help us out with thread pitch I would appreciate it! Can't believe how hard it's been finding any information since everyone sells the complete set for the triple top for the forks and it's not by individual components. When I finally determine and get an aftermarket nut, I will post it!

Doh! Still No Luck

I bought a M24x1.50 axle nut from an auto parts store. The threads were not the same to the steering stem bolt threads so I went back and returned the $7 nut.

I went to Tao Tao direct parts and they don't sell the nuts by themselves. You have to buy the whole upper triple tree assembly with bearings, spanner nut, and steering stem....:( parts kit.com has this for $39.00 + shipping) but they are sold out.

I believe the nut threads are either an M24x1.25 or M24x1.00. My next step is to go to a Honda motorcycle dealership and see if they got one. All Tao Tao power sports dealers do not have any extra spare parts for these machines since they are too new.

It's kind of a bummer I didn't listen to the initial thread to check and tighten bolts. Now I have been a week without a joyride......

Thumbs Up

After many emails and phone calls to Tao Motors or partskit.com customer service, Tao motor called me back. The nut is a M24x1 and will be in stock in two weeks at the Texas distributor. I ordered this from Amazon Motoparty Steering Stem Nut For Honda ATC200S CB50R CB125 CB250 CL100 125 CRF250R CRF70F CT70 XR 70 75 80 100 Z50 Handlebar Top Bridge Cap Nut,90304-159-000 (Fit Many Vintage 50-250cc/ATC 70-200),and I will be ordering an official one from
Tao Motors.

I asked for a torque spec and they stated we don't have that. Hate to say it but I'm using brozz specs for torquing. Fingers crossed!

For those of you who didn't figure it out yet.. loctite this thing with red loctite. They're known to fall off in recent years and are out of stock with taotao at last check.

Update: the nut I ordered from Amazon did not fit since it was cap nut vs the washer nut tao uses. I Ordered a different steering stem nut from eBay that is a M24 x 1.00.

I disagree with red loctite and it should be blue since you still want to be able to remove it to do the front fork oil change the right way!
