TBR7 Rear Brake Parts?

Hey guys, Just wondering if anyone out there knows where I could get a few missing parts I didn't get when I received my taotao tbr7. I've had this bike for a while but haven't been able to use the rear brakes and its kinda getting annoying. I have attached a picture. Let me know!

Thanks

From reading all the tbr7 that are shipped without that clevis it's almost funny. You can usually buy a whole master cylinder with the clevis off ebay or Amazon for less than 20 bux.

He's also going to need the pedal spring and brake switch spring.

OP, see if you can get ahold of the shipper and have them send you the clevis pin, washers and cotter pin along with both of the springs I mentioned.

Guess I'll have to try that. I did get the bike from Q9 power sports.

You should of requested those parts from Q9 when you first got the bike. If too much time has passed then they will probably charge you for them. You can get parts from here but are on the expensive side. https://www.taotaopartsdirect.com/co...cc-tbr7?page=6
Springs can be bought at the hardware store. The brake clevis might be the hard one to find local. You may find a match on Amazon or Ebay.

Measure the size of the threaded rod on the master cylinder. then search amazon. If you know the size and pitch of thread it will help. example of search. https://www.amazon.com/Othmro-cylind...s%2C102&sr=8-4

The link that Jerryhawk supplied will work. The TBR7 is M8 1.25 as per the ebay link. Buy a jam nut at the local hardware store. The picture in the ebay link shows the 2 springs necessary for the brake light. You should be able to get those at hardware store as well.

This was a common enough issue that one of the TBR guys designed a replacement that's better anyway. Rear brake clevis is a real issue but apparently they've fixed the issue as the ones delivered this last few weeks haven't been missing: https://tbr7.com/upgrades/brakes/

Yeah. At least don't use the coter pin on the stock clevis it don't be on there 5 minutes & you'll lose it again.

Here's a decent link to bookmark for factory parts. Seems kind of pricey though.

It must've been tough using the front brake all this time. I've never even used the front brake on bike, ever and would hate to have to.

Why not? Front brakes provide around 80% of your stopping power. If you're engine braking and using the rear brake, yes, that will slow you down at the expense of rear tire life, but not using the front brake on a motorcycle just means you're making something already somewhat unsafe even less safe! Don't follow the above's example.

I'm sure franque's advice is correct. I quit using front brakes at age 10 when my 10 speed English racer flipped frontwards. I mostly rode dirt. Locking the back brake would get me turned it the direction I would want to go after braking. Locking in dirt never takes much rubber off the tires either.
E specially weighing what I weighed then. Maybe after 52 years it's time to rethink it.
