Seal around my gear shift lever is leaking oil.

Hello all,

I know I am in the Dual Sport section, which my Lifan LF200III does not match, but I have an engine question and this forum section seems to get more activity.

Does anyone know an easy way to fix this? Would any bike shop be able to do this?

You should be able to replace it. I can't remember if it requires pulling that engine cover off or not.

Sometimes you can pick out the old seal and slide a new one on without removing the whole cover.

I am going to venture a guess that a seal from a honda will fit too.

Do you know which Honda motor is closest to the Lifan FML-163? Also does anyone know how to replace a gear shift lever seal on this?

Bottom end of a honda xl185 looks really close look up a 1980 model.

I think it is part 11 in this schematic
$2.47

Thanks Katorange,

you have been helpful. I actually noticed I overfilled the oil a bit during the last oil change (the OHC only takes .8L of oil) and it seems it pushed out the seal a tiny bit. I just drained some oil and used a large socket and pushed it back in. Seems to be fine now, no more leaking.
