I Got My Bike!

Okay, so I finally got my bike today! Woohoo!! I'm so excited!

Ehem.. I woke up knowing this would be a great day. First off I was just hanging out at home when the door bell rang and a package on my doorstep. I knew immidiately what it was. It was the helmet that ImEazy promised me for $20. He mailed it Friday and I would have gotten it yesterday, but yesterday was Sunday. But anyways, it came as promised perfectly fine. Brand new, flat black, adult medium. I love it, fits like a charm. Then my girlfriend came over and she loaned me $100 to make my budget $1,000. So we left and met up with my mom, because she's always gone, and my mom took me to the guys house and he was outside already working on his grandson's little 50cc. I told him I had the money and we all went inside his house while he filled out a bill of sales and then he and my mom signed the title or whatever, I got my helmet out of the car and my mom left. The guy then showed me all the little things about the bike that he knew, filled me up with gas, and I was on my way. I WAS RIDING MY FIRST RIDE. It was great. I felt at home on the big bike. I drove past my old high school because it was on ehe way, and all the kids were staring at me. I knew this would happend because it's so BRIGHT YELLOW. Then as I got on the service road to pick up some speed, I got my first WAVE. Another biker was coming the opposite direction, and I instantly remembered the wave story. So I lifted up my clutch hand and so did he. It was almost orgasmic. lol. But yeah, I got it home and played around on it a little bit an yeah. It's awesome..

However, something is vibrating really loud up front, almost as if it's right in the handle bar area. I can't figure it out. And I keep having trouble starting it for some reason, I don't know what's up. Sometimes it's first try, other times it takes like a million. But yeah, I want to get rid of that loud noise. Any suggestions?

Here are some pics. I'm not sure what it is, maybe a Lifan 200GY-2?? What do you think it is?

It is a GY2 variant.

You need to start buy going over all the items in the dual sport prep sticky.

Most likely the carb needle needs to be moved and the engine bolts tighten up or replaced with better ones. Also check the chain adjustment.

Congrats!

Looks good....the helmet too! Nice deal.

It may just be the angle of the picture, but it looks like your headlight isn't working....is that true? It should be on when your bike is running. If it isn't, you'll probably want to fix that quickly, as it's not legal in some states (mine for sure) to run without one. If it does work, just ignore me.

Not sure on the vibration/noise, but some members have found their brake pads making noise due to not making full contact w/ the rotor. That may not be the case with so few miles on yours, but it's worth a look.

Does it change with the speed of the engine/bike/wheel or is it more of a constant?

The more info you share the sooner someone can point you in the right direction.

Good luck, and again...congrats!

Yeah some form of a gy2, one thing up front there that might buzz could be the headlight fairing on the headlight lens.

Good looking helmet too

I remember my fairing buzzing now. I made rubber washer to put in there.

Um, it's not a constant buzz but the bike is sort of loud anyway.

The main buzzing I'm refering too is mainly when I get to about 5th gear. The beginning of fifth gear is normal, then an insane loud buzzing noise, but if I continue to accelerate it goes away and is a steady normal engine sound..

Here's a video, but you can't hear any of it.

Yeah, one of them looks torn and maybe slight dry rotted? But it's not constant.

Congrats on the bike. Nice looking helmet, but don't forget a pair of gloves. They don't have to be a $100 dollar pair of Alpinstars, but a decent pair of form fitting leather work gloves from Home Depot will not only save your hands in a spill but it will keep your hands from getting burned if you have to do any roadside emergency repairs. Sorry, I can't help it, I'm a safety guy at work. Having said that I'm recovering from a leg injury, oh well Stay safe, have fun.

Also check the engine mount bolts, battery box, and exhaust.

Betcha' 10 bucks I know what the buzz is!
Mine was doing exactly what you're describing.
HINT: I have the same instrument cluster as you.
Just snug up the screws in the face of the cluster, you can test it by pushing in different places on the face of the cluster when you hear it buzzing.
Mine drove me nuts for a week before I found out what it was.

Um, I'm not sure what size sprockets. I'm a noob, remember? But if it says on the sprocket I could check? But yeah, I'll get out there tomorrow and go over everything, I didn't get a real good look today.

And now that I think about it, there IS a constant overall buzzing, and it's kind of annoying along with the insanely loud buzzing in the middle of 5th gear. Maybe it's just some unloosened bolts or plastic hitting something. We'll only know for sure after I tighten everything up. And hopefully sooner or later I'll actually put up some GOOD pics in my gallery.
