Factory stated Xpect HP, Venom's stated HP and Torqe Pro's estimate.
We all know Venom's stated hp for the Xpect 200 is 14, the title says 17 and Torque Pro's estimated WHP based on the bike+rider weight, my phone's accelerometer possibly and gps location puts it at ~13.8. It's hard to say because I was using an analog gauge instead of digital or graph. I've used it on several MUCH higher hp rides in the past and it's usually pretty close, it was within a few hp of an actual dyno reading on one and a factory stated on another. It can not account for wheel spin and will show a lower reading. My bike is closing in on the 200 mile mark (lots of rain lately) but I'm sure it is as broken in as it will get.

14hp is most likely to be the correct rating. Most CG200 engines are rated around 14-15hp, which would be around 12hp at the wheel. Lifan USA also states it at 14hp, and that is the number I would believe the most. Lifan doesn't play games with their numbers because they are trying to be a legit name in North America. That is why most of their bikes have, until this year, been EPA compliant.

The CG is an archaic design, made to be whipped like a bad mule with zero maintenance in Third World countries. It's done that very well.

24 ho for a 200cc bike is unusual, unless the engine makes 10k rpm or more. True Japanese bikes are more efficient than Chinese bikes, but still.. Honda does focus on torque over HP on many of their bike engines, save for the super sports bikes

The old XR engines are also 4 valve heads. They are one step below a race motor because they were trying to compete against 2 strokes for quite a while because Honda didn't like 2 strokes.

I would guess it is due to the cat located in the muffler.

I see great looking 4 valve heads showing up as aftermarket kits for the 172FMM. Are they also available for the CG clones (200,230)?
Obviously, they require OHV setup which is available for the 230. Is there an OHV 200?? I bought a brand spanking new red Honda 1982 XR500. OK, it was the only color available ![]() I think is was about $1800 for the XL500. I had placed a deposit on that street legal version, the XL500 in Albuquerque and they sold it on me over the weekend! I ended up with the XR for the same price that had been sitting next to it by the parts counter. It was supposed to have more horsepower, and it was a little bit lighter. I should have insisted on a full refund of my deposit and just walked out, but I had hitched a ride and the ride was gone. So I rode the "off road only" XR 120 miles North back home. It did have a brake light and headlight and I managed to plate it in a Northern New Mexico County. I bent the plate half round and mounted it to the rear fender! Both versions of the bike had twin header pipes merged into one as they past the right side of the engine. Yes, 4 valves with individual exhaust ports. They both also had an automatically engaging compression release valve that made it easier to start. It was a real mountain goat and wheelie factory. Fun-a-gathump! No catalyst yet.
