Can't find the right size front sprocket?
I may have your solution. I recently bought a new Kenda TrackMaster II knobby for the back. It's an amazing tire but the knobbies are so tall that it changes my gear ratio substantially. I called Bruce up from EJ cycles as seen in the parts thread. I had a 17T and was looking for a 15T FS. He told me that he could not get me a 15 only 14, 16 or 17. He told me as far as he knew they did not exist. I figured it out and a 15 would be optimal and he agreed. Then I looked on eBay and found a ZG in 15T. Bruce said even though it was the same size shaft it would not work. Well I wanted to find out for myself and I did. Turns out the notches are slightly smaller cut but you can get them in any tooth you can imagine for about $11 bucks sent. Well I realized that the size difference was slight and got out my dremel again I took a small grinding bit and ran it on the edges of each notch making them wider. I made sure to do one at a time evenly and when I was done I was amazed it fit on there perfect, like a glove! Took me about 5 minutes as I was being careful.
Now you can buy any size front sprocket you could ever need, as long as you have a dremel that is. This should help a buncha people. CHOW! After cutting it.. Fits like a glove! |

Maybe. I haven't used it yet.
What else have you done to your bike? Allen

so what the heck is the ZG sprocket from?
Can't find a ZG brand sprocket anywhere, might you know what application it was sold for?? I see a 15 tooth 420 chain 'pitbike' sprocket that sure looks like yours, but looks...well...not so good when talking mechanical fitment .

Oke, got a 15 coming. Prolly should have just grabbed 14, 15, 16, 17 to see how the changes work but I'm in a cheap mood today...
