I wonder what "fairly good gas milage" is.

With all that weigh and linkage. He probly reduced his milage from a possible 70mpg to like 50.

Yeah I am not too sure on the details, but looked like an interesting project.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for someone who can do such as this.

It is what I call "Blank Page Work", and by that, I mean the person started with a blank page and a bunch of ideas and made something of it.

It is too easy to look at something like this and criticize what someone has done, but considering that they started with nothing and made something from it is, to me, awesome.

Of course, it's imperfect, and of course, it could be improved, but just keep in mind that Connestoga and Studebaker came before Corvette and Maserati.

Cool project and amazing is the fact it was done with hand tools!
I have been waiting to hear of a EV that uses Tesla technology to transfer electricity to it.

Right on, Alaska Dad, and another good example of Tesla power is how high you jump when you walk across a carpet and then touch a doorknob. 8O 8O

Let's see. I have a GS450 rolling chassis.

I still like the idea of the chinese diesel bike. Maybe the diesel/hybrid bike.

Wouldn't a diesel have a tougher time passing the clean-air test than a gas powered engine ?

Of all the "project" bikes I have seen, this one appears about the cleanest.
Granted it's an older and dated donor bike, but no reason it could not be done on a more modern frame as well and stiil look mostly normal.

And just think if the chinese catch on. They could ride thru the countryside using gas and switch to electric power when they need to run thru one of the geen cities that dont allow gas motorbikes.

This is the basic idea I meant when I said I would love to see a EV using Tesla effect to run it.
From Technology Review:

Charging Batteries without Wires
New MIT research reveals a way to send wireless energy to mobile phones and laptops.

Small, battery-powered gadgets make powerful computing portable. Unfortunately, there's still a continual need to recharge the batteries of phones, laptops, cameras, and MP3 players by hooking them up to a tangle of wires. Now researchers at MIT have proposed a way to cut the cords by wirelessly supplying power to devices.

Tesla wanted to send power all over NY city wirelessly from a radio tower he was building for Randolph Hearst, when Hearst learned what Tesla was planning he pulled his financing feeling electricity should be metered and paid for.

I don't care about emissions. Its all about the fuel mileage.

Actually a fully electric bike would be the best if I could have about a 60 mile range on a charge.

I forget the name of the electric motor to make an electric motorcycle from, but there is 1 main motor, if you strap 9 car batteries to it you should get 45 miles out of it on a charge, depending how you ride it. The motor is about $250. You need a decent frame to hold the battery weight.

To fit 9 batteries also would need a large frame. That is too much.

Talk to CSX diesel-elctrics have pushed billions of tons of cargo at increadabble milage for decades.
