how doyou take an atv chain off

I assume it has a master or spring link. This is a link that its not riveted together and can be dismantled by removing a spring clip.

Rotate your chain keeping an eye out for a link that looks like the one in the picture below. Once located use a pair of pliers to apply pressure on the open end against the adyacent pin until it clicks out. Slide it outwards and unclip it from the other pin. Remove sideplate and then pull the rest of the link out from the other side.

When replacing a master link always fit the closed end of the spring clip towards the direction of normal rotation of the chain.
