Brammo Enertia
$11,995 (less a 10 percent Federal tax credit) www.brammo.com

And a whopping 45 mile range to boot!.... It's a start, but if I had 12K to spend on a bike that wouldn't be the one!

Yeah $12K is way out of line IMO.
I guess all this "THINK GREEN" crap is more about "THEM" thinking about the greenbacks in our wallets than the environment.

I myself would easily/willingly/eagerly drive an electric vehicle (car preferred-winters suck on a bike ) if it was reasonably priced, didnt need to be pluggged in every friggen night and has decent performance.

I'm still wondering if I could make my 73 convertable beetle into a 4wd diesel+electric.(probably not )

Other then seating position, and the HIGH price, how is it different from an electric scooter?

If the price was right though I would buy one. It would be great for commuting. It would have to be under $4500 for me to even consider it.

Couldn't range be increased by having a transmission to allow for lower motor rpm at higher speeds?

Also, they say it has "an elegantly simple electric drivetrain that keeps maintenance at an absolute minimum", I am wondering why then they are using a chain... They should use a belt in my opinion...

Great idea, but cost and range will keep it from being very popular.

I saw a converted ninja 600 to electric power. It cost about a 1/3 of that and has a range of 60-70 miles. I thought it was great idea.

Chemical energy is less green than hippies would have you to belive. Powerplants make the energy and unless you are useing Nuclear power (which is supper effieciant) you are probly less efficicent than gas (energy on demand).

The bike, however, is really cool and electric motors do have a 'S' ton of tourque which is the best part.

This is why I question how the brammo is so revolutionary... http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/mcy/1226558375.html I don't quite see how it is different from a scooter, which is not new. $1800 60km top speed, 100km range, it isn't quite as good as the brammo, but the brammo isn't $10,000 better in my opinion.

It looks kind of cool, with almost a bit of a bobber look to it though. I'd like to see some of these coming out of China.

Edit: And this e-scooter, http://wxlongjia.en.alibaba.com/prod...uctdetail.html

70km/h; 90km per charge.

I might try and find a cheap Chinese dual sport rolling chassis, and get my hand on some of these parts to do a conversion... It would be great to get to work and back, cheap to power... If I could get the range and speed of that scooter (or slightly less range and higher speed), and pack it up to look like a super moto that would be cool. I wonder how that would be registered in BC though. Something to look into.

There is this option, http://www.electricmotorsport.com/st...ycle_gpr-s.php

Top Speed:60-70 mph (Gearing Adjustable)
Range:35 / 60 miles (Power / Economy)
MSRP $8500

I actually prefer the look of the enertia more, but it's price is out of line... I actually think this one is a bit pricey too. But I'm cheap.

Here's another one,

Street legal, this is sort of what I want to make... Again, still priced too high.

green technology

How are electric vehicles "green"?

The biggest polluting industry in North America is the electric generating industry.
