Zongshen 200GY-2: Starter Button Replacement

I recently replaced the stock battery in my Zong with a Scorpion, YTZ7S battery.

At that time, I also decided to inspect the starter switch on my motorcycle. The Zongshen starter button is adequate, but it employs a simple mechanism which is sometimes a bit quirky in its operation. After I inspected my starter switch, I decided it was time to replace it with a better switch from Radio Shack, part #275-1549.

The Radio Shack switch is very rugged, and its dimensions are close to ideal for this application. I needed to do a bit of trimming on the Zong’s plastic switch housing with my Dremel tool, but I am pleased with the final result. The Radio Shack switch is very rugged; however, if it should fail in the future, I can easily get a replacement switch for $3.99, from any Radio Shack store.

Boy, you guys are a tough crowd to please! I forget to post one photo, and you turn on me, just like that!

OK. Here are a few photos of the new switch, taken right after I gave the Zong a bath.

Thank you, Racer. The Radio Shack prices for parts like this is quite inflated. Nevertheless, the Radio Shack stores are located everywhere, and they keep a nice supply of parts. Whenever I undertake an electronics project, I always check out the Radio Shack products; they usually have the item I need. I enjoy the convenience of getting the part locally, and quickly, without having to pay shipping charges.
