My GY 200 is perfect for these kinda of rides I really like my motorcycle.

I'm looking forward to getting another DS, maybe next year. We have several places around here that are just waiting to be discovered.

Thank you Fast Doc. Your Welcome Weldangrind. Do you have a particular model in mind?. There is no doubt a lot can be discovered with a dual sport. If you would take a look at my triple tree from the pic by the lake. When I did some road miles yesterday she was feelin a little squirely at higher speed. I had tightened the headset bolt before. Last night I found a steering post on the dual sport forum followed the direction given. The tubes were way to low in the tree. After the adjustment the ride today was nice a stable and the head bolt stayed tight.

No particular model in mind jerseysand46, but I'm partial to Hondas. I'd love an old XL, primarily because they're so familiar to me and parts are cheap. Like Doc is considering, I'd entertain re-powering a Honda with a China bike motor and gain electric start in the process.

That said, I'd happily ride a KLR, DR or just about any China bike.

Glad to hear that you got the front end tightened up safely.

Yes I have always Liked the XL and XR Honda's. They are still around here that for sure every now and then one is available on craigslist. I just got a 1979 XL 125 that was no where near ready to stop running. Sold it saturday to a hunter who will use it this season. I had an SL 70 that was very good to me in my early riding days. The one I wished I never let go was my SL 350.

Even old XL's are crazy expensive around here. if I happen to find one that's under $1000.00, it won't likely have a title.

I have some stuff laying around; maybe I'll build one.

You should build one weldangrind the idea that doc has to repower a XL with a china motor. Think about there is a lot of XL available that need motor repair and that would be where the cost would deter most people from getting involved. Start with an all there XL and shot motor. I believe the results could be nice motorcycle.

I was born and raised in Jersey, and left after medical school (Rutgers) at age 26 and have only been back once about 10 years ago for my mother's funeral.

I had no idea, even in the Pine Barrens, that there was still a place you could ride off road.

My mom lived in Bricktown.

I rode my mountain bike in Allaire SP, and the Stockton and Wharton State Forests, IIRC though.

I miss The Shore!

I live in Southern Nj just above Cape May. From my backyard access through Cumberland County, Ocean County, Atlantic County and Burlington County can be achieved staying in the Woods 90% of the ride. I don't know the area in NJ from say North of Long Branch. Fast Doc I will get you some pics of the ocean as soon as I possibly can.
