Tornados

I don't post often but do lurk and read quite a few posts. I know many of you are people of Faith and I would like to ask you to pray for my little hometown of Cordova, Alabama. On April 27th an EF3 Tornado hit town at about 5:00AM twelve hours later an EF4 crossed the earlier tornadoes path downtown. Cordova is typical small town Alabama.

Any industry we had moved out in the '80's. We were left with a small grocery store, a couple bank branches, a barber shop, small auto parts store, a Dr's office, 2 pharmacies (we folks don't trust big city folks with there meds) a library, laundromat, and a couple mom and pop diners that served hot artery clogging burgers.

Currently there are no buildings downtown that are habitable. Four people lost their lives that day. Actually the early tornado probably saved lives because the damage it caused shut down town. If there would have been power in town that evening another 100+ people, including my wife, would have been directly in the path because most stores close at 5 PM. That was when the second one hit.

My town has been blessed with donations. We are doing great in that area but I do request prayer. The adrenaline is starting to wear off. Those that have been working non stop to help others are about to fall from exhaustion. My wife's bank is operating out of a mobile home the other bank out of an armored truck. The Dr's office, one pharmacy, city hall and the police are working from RV's. The Fire stations was totaled and the trucks that are operational are parked downtown. This is going to be a long road ahead of us. Please continue to pray for us.

Thank you,
BamaRat

Prayers Sent - Your Town reminds me of mine. I can only imagine. Best wishes to you and your community. Sometimes things like this make us stronger and better then before. Our community really showed a Uniting of one just a couple weeks ago when the whole town and many surrounding towns came togather to honor a Younf Army Captain that recently died in afganistan. I can imagine this to be devestating to many. The community will unite and come togather helping those who need it more then others. I am sure you are witnessing these things everyday. Hang in there only time will heal the damage now.

I'm very sorry to hear of the two tornados that damaged your town, Bama. :( I just said a prayer for your community, and I hope you are blessed with a rapid recovery from this tragedy.
