Its not a chinabike, but you made an excellent decision. Spud will fill you in.

Wonderful deal! The bike does look great and was thoughtfully modified. You were saved a lot of time and money by the previous owners. :P

Spud will fill you in on more details, like a 650R countershaft sprocket.

Good score!

It looks like someone has swapped out the metal tank for an XR or Clarke tank.

I've ridden a couple of 200s and a Honda cbr600f4
"that was a trip" and with me being 6"1 and 255lbs I knew
A 650 would let me do anything and beat the haters in the cars and trucks
I just ordered a 13/49 sprocket and chain for it , and hope to learn how
To adjust the carb, do y'all know any videos on how to do that?
Thanks
Luke

You got a great deal, Luke! Thanks for posting the photographs. It appears to me you got an IMS, 4.0-gallon fuel tank. You also got a nice windshield! I suggest you get some fork boots, or seal savers for your forks. I also suggest you examine your countershaft splines; if you see even a hint of rust, the splines are being worn down. :( I encourage you to switch to a wider, XR650R countershaft sprocket.

A 13T/45T sprocket combination should work well off road, even with your size, Luke. If you go with a 13T/49T sprocket combination, you will be able to pull stumps with your XR650L! 8O Most of us are using a 14T/48T sprocket combination for off road riding. This sprocket combination is numerically equivalent to the 13T/45T sprocket combination you currently have installed on your bike.

It appears you have the stock exhaust; did you get a different, separate muffler with the deal? You will probably want to do Dave's carburetor modifications to your bike; here's the link.

Thank you spud for the expert advice!!!
I choose 13/49 because if the trailing ability
Like u said, it's no fun to have to go 15 mph
In first through the trails and clutching it every
5 seconds!
Thanks for the links!!!
I got an extra ims tank and the stock tank!
He also gave me a " race muffler" I installed it
And it sounded like a straight pipe Harley 1200!!
I was thinking with the exhaust opened up I would need
To adjust the carbs,
I also was looking for boots for my forks
Know any that work ??!
Thanks
Luke

You got a great deal on your Honda XR650L, Luke! Please don't leave us here at China Riders. Several of us on these forums own XR650L motorcycles, and we would love to have you post about your bike here in the Other Stuff Forum! I'm sure the other members of these forums would also love to see posts on your XR650L, and would want you to remain with us as well!

+1.

Some of us, moderators even, don't currently own a Chinabike. We'd love for you to stick around. Also, I'm sure that even for us non CB owners we'll wind up with another one sooner or later.

You shouldn't need to work the clutch with 13T/45T sprockets, or 14T/48T sprockets, Luke. However, a 13T/48T sprocket combination will allow you to crawl along with tractor-like torque.

You can buy the OEM fork boots from Honda. You can also order the DAYSTAR-69 fork boots.

First, let me say I am very glad you wish to remain with us on these forums. In regards to the fork boots, I believe the OEM boots are only available in black. However, basic black coordinates with any color, and many XR650L owners have black fork boots on their white motorcycles. The Daystar 69 fork boots are available in a wide variety of colors. Red always seems to coordinate well on a Honda, and some people like the royal blue. If you choose either red, or blue, you might consider creating a patriotic, red, white, and blue color theme for your XR650L.
