That looks great!....and WAY easier than how I ended up doing the job!
http://i920.photobucket.com/albums/a...s/CIMG4757.jpg Hey Doc? I had those exact tires on my old chopper and they actually did 'ok' in the rain if I road normal and cautiously.....even with the 4"-over front end.....but anything was an improvement over the skinny old-school Avon I had on the front and the car tire I had on the rear before I replaced them! |
took my carb off today, I'm running a 102 main and a 40 slow jet. According to some other posts 110 is the preferred main jet size, should i go for a larger slow jet as well. I know the carb needs adjusting for the new exhaust but it was having trouble idling. has anyone had better luck with other sizes, before i order the 110?
The guy in the video i posted in the pictures/video section with the Q that has the same exhaust is running a 127, would that be better to buy? |
Different bike and a different carb on the Q. Start with a 110 main and 42 or 44 slow jet, and see how it behaves. The larger slow jet will help it idle, as long as you don't choose one that's too large.
The trick will be to find the correct slow jet. |

That made a HUGE difference on my Hondanoids. Simple too! |
I found some slow jets at the local cycle shop a 42 and 45. I have the 42 in right now. I couldn't find any main jets, had to get the bike running drilled the 102 jet I have to a 120 (smallest bit I had) for a temporary fix. Calling the national roketa distributor in Illinois....again for jets tomorrow. I have a Dekni pz30. The bike runs fine through the low end but when I get through the throttle it bogs till I turn the throttle back and it picks up again. I know I need a 110. Anyone find any other jets that fit, I don't want to be driving around like this.

Your carb is based on the Keihin, and that's what was used in old Hondas (like the XR200). You might be able to take the jet into your local Honda dealer and buy a 110 main that is identical to yours. Just don't tell them what it's for...
|
that's what i did yesterday and i brought the jets, and carb into the shop, found some slow ones that fit but no main jets.
|
well ive come to the conclusion im just gonna buy a Mikuni. Does this one look like a solid fit?

That one is a flange mount. Is your's a flange mount or does it mount directly to a carb holder ('boot', or intake 'manifold') with a circular clamp?
|
yes the mount is similar. im more worried about the little hole on the top, Mine doesn't have that at all. also the choke looks a little different there is no cable holder, issue here?.

I think the hole you are refering to is where the carb cable mounts.
The choke lever position does not matter as long as you get get to it easily enough and there's room for it to operate. |
the carb i have only has 1 hole in the top where the cable goes. the big one in the middle. i dont have a small one off tot he size as pictured here.

No worries. That's a vent or something.
|
That's not a hole. It's ink. It will be a direct fit on your bike, but you'll need to swap your existing choke lever over. You'll need to buy new jets for it, but they're easy to find.
|
There you go! :P
|
Alright good enough for me bought.

Finally getting around to looking for jets for my Mikuni. And I was reading some posts on here and I thought I was looking for a 110 main and a 42 slow but I have now read other posts that say 127-132 main. Can someone help me out here I live at sea level what do I need?
|
With a stock muffler, I'd start with a 110 main and a 25 slow. The Mikuni slow jet numbering system is much smaller than a Keihin, hence your confusion.
