I have a 38 pilot on my bike and I am less than 2 turns out.
Another suggestion. Leave the pumper cable end disconnected for now until you have the jets figured out. The accelerator pump can mask or exaggerate tuning issues.

I actually thought of that all on my own, LOL. Anyway, I'll give the mixture screw a try it didn't occur to me it could be causing the issue. I'll give that a go tomorrow night after work. I'm at 2.5 turns out. Thanks!!
