Early March Ride in Idaho

This afternoon the high temperature reached a balmy, 52 degrees Fahrenheit. 8) Therefore, i went for a 90-mile ride to discover how far the snow has receded from the gravel roads.

Here's a photograph of my Dunlop, D952 rear tire after 6,150 miles of wear. I think it's time to replace it.

Here's a photograph of my CST, Surge I, front tire after 220 miles of wear.

I'm going to mount a Pirelli, MT21 rear tire later this week.

Yes, that bike is my 2005, Honda XR650L. If I can, I will probably go riding my Zong tomorrow. If so, I will post another ride report.

Spud, if you need a tutorial, I can point you to a great tire changing video.

Great pics Spud! Thank God I think we're off the hook with winter for this season.

I'd say you got your use out of that tire! For whatever reason if I get 3,000 miles on a D/S tire I consider myself lucky.

I still can't get over the natural beauty of Creation in your local area, Spud.

Thank you, gentlemen.

Today the high temperature reached a blistering 59 degrees Fahrenheit! 8O Therefore, I went for a 168-mile ride; I hope you enjoy the photographs.

The lakes are still frozen, but they are starting to melt near the shoreline.

Near the end of my ride I was surprised to discover how much snow had melted from yesterday! Therefore, I went exploring down a gravel road to see how far I could go.

In a week or so the gravel roads should be passable. It will take longer for the snow to melt from the mountain trails, but the off road riding season will start at least a month earlier this year! 8)

a 650L?

i'm surprised you got the life you did from that tire, those bikes are the bees knees, I almost got my hand on a 600R yesterday for 700 bucks. I went to pick it up and he had sold it to someone else. I had just talked to him on the phone an hour before, I was mad when i got there.

Yes, Azriel, it's a Honda XR650L. I'm sorry you missed the great deal on the XR600R! :(

Beautiful pics as always Spud, the mountains make an awe inspiring backdrop to your photos . Lol, they also make me extra itchy to get out for a ride! I'm looking forward to spending a couple of days riding the icefield parkway this spring/summer. I'll be sure to take lots of pics!

Looks like a wonderful ride Spud! It's amazing how beat up the gravel road is. It looks like the runoff has taken it's toll. I bet you had a muddy pig for sure at the end of that ride! :P

Indeed. The gravel roads here become quagmires with the spring melt. However, it's fun to ride where the automobile can't go, and I can hose the mud off the bikes pretty easily.

Thank you for the pictures Spud very nice scenery. 168 miles that would be too much on Zong :o, probably easy on Honda.
